In that case, why not just run it like a tournament: 45 minutes per round (which would get us 4 or 5 rounds), Swiss format. You would only need one army in that case. |

I wanted to add the sand timer for fun...
but we can skip it...
anyways..if we use different armies it will give people a chance to try different ideas.
So this way I can explore different concepts,
and then decide which one worked best.
You are the Director...so you have the final say... |

Since you're picking the format, you get the final say. I just wanted to suggest something simpler.
If you want, you can give people the option to switch armies between rounds.
In a one hour timeframe, however, if you happen to finish a game early, you will probably only have a few minutes left before the end of the hour, which isn't enough to do much more than setup and play a turn or two in another game. |

My main idea was to give players a chance to practice their armies in head to head combat.
Quite honestly I tend to become very nervous and I'm wanting to overcome that and relax a bit more.
Seems like I really never play head to head until Gencon...
and then the pressure is a bit heavy..
I remember seeing Pelter and Jonathon playing, and they played rather quickly...like they practiced before..
basically they did not seem nervous..it looked rather like a routine head to head battle that they would play often.
So I want to give people a chance to duke it out...without the heavy pressure...and if their army is not working...just bring out a new one.
Head to Head
if we time the games...then it will take away any lopsided battles (some will last longer than others) |

For July 2009, we'll be getting together at Games Plus! in Mt. Prospect, IL on the 25th at 6 p.m.
Format is: Super Sized Single Race
72 health for this format!
Your army must consist of a single race (no Eldarim), and you must bring 12 health of each class of unit. For example, if you choose Coral Elves, then you would bring 12 health of heavy, 12 health of light, 12 health of missile, 12 health of cavalry, 12 health of magic, and 12 health of monsters. For the six-sided units, you must bring at least one unit of each health size of each class (in other words, your army must have at least one of each six-sided unit of that race). For monsters, each one must be unique.
During setup, your Home, Campaign, and Horde armies must have 24 health each.
(BTW, 72 health = 3 dragons and 24 health of dragonkin)
Standard tournament rules. See the SFR website at http://www.sfr-inc.com/StarterRules.pdf

4x5=20 (only 3 unique monsters can be choosen) 3x4=12
12
12
12
12
12
20+12+12+12+12+12=80
Yikes...I'm starting to put this together but the math comes out to 80 health...

The super sized turned out to be an ideal candidate for the anti-turtle game.
However..I felt it also created two turtles.
Ideally you really need to create 3 separate armies and attack!!
The turtle did not help much...as the magic was low...and a black dragon breath kills any ideas of using IDs for magic.
Next Month!!!
Eldarim Initiation
Eldarim Racial Spells are legal
Acolytes are legal
36 health
standard rules
END*
* in the event we play before GenCon...
Eldarim Racial Spells will still apply to the Champions...
and there are some Acolytes on the loose aready.

I'm assuming that Eldarim racial abilities would also be in effect? Or is it just the spells? |

The only Saturday we're both available is the 29th. If that doesn't work, just go without me. Pat can make the 22nd, but I can't. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

Why aren't Amazons allowed? If no gold terrains are allowed, then they don't have any gold. |

BTW there is only one terrain w/o gold. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |
